WEST Craven Sports Centre in Barnoldswick will reopen next Monday after the Prime Minister approved the second step in the Government’s roadmap to recovery out of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Pendle Leisure Trust, which operates the Barnoldswick centre, said it along with its other pools and gyms, including Pendle Wavelengths, Nelson, would reopen on April 12.

The Muni Theatre, Colne, will reopen in September, with a full Autumn/Winter programme of shows and events. All leisure centres are currently in the process of being thoroughly deep cleaned and staff training has taken place to make sure everyone and everything is ready for reopening safely next week.

Alison Goode, chief executive of Pendle Leisure Trust, said: “This is the news we have been waiting for - and we couldn’t be more delighted to finally be able to reopen our doors and welcome all our customers back.

“We are ready and raring to go, knowing we have done everything we can to make sure our members and customers will feel safe when they return – again.

“As a charitable Trust, we provide these leisure facilities for every member of Pendle’s community and we want everyone to take advantage of them – so please come and use them.”

Fitness classes, organised indoor sports and pool-based classes will not resume until May 17.
