A DRUGS driver who switched his plea from not guilty to guilty when he appeared before Skipton Magistrates was given a 12 months driving ban.

Jordan Bellamy, 29, was stopped as he drove a MG ZS on Keighley Road, Skipton, during the afternoon of October 13, the court heard on Friday.

He tested positive at the roadside for cannabis and was taken to Harrogate police station where he provided a blood sample.

The sample had 2.8 microgrammes of delta-9- tetrahydrocannabinol - a by-product of cannabis - in 100 millilitres of blood, the specified limit is two.

Bellamy, of Broughton Grove, Skipton, who the court heard took cannabis for back pain, was also fined £120 with costs of £85 and a surcharge of £34.
