CHILDREN from Glusburn Primary School paid a Covid-safe visit to Hayfield Mill, home of Cirteq, as part of a history project.
The children have been exploring changes to their area over the ages and have studied old photographs. They have also learnt about the original owner mof Hayfield Mill, John Hartley and his son in law, John Horsfall.
The children learnt how much of the housing, the mill and Glusburn Institute were the result of the mill owners forward thinking.
Alex Firnigl, business development manager at Cirteq, showed the children around the mill, described how it was now used and how products made there were exported worldwide.
They also heard how the original, listed mill chimney was currently being restored and will remain a key landmark. The children thanked Cirteq for their visit and hoped to be able to return in the future.
