LIBRARIES in Craven are running a new digital service to help beginner drivers practise their theory skills ahead of the big day.

Now that driving tests have resumed following the recent easing of coronavirus restrictions, North Yorkshire County Council is offering the digital ‘Theory Test Pro’ across its libraries.

The highly realistic online simulation of the UK’s driving theory test contains the official practice test question bank, hazard perception video clips and an online version of the Highway Code and is licensed from the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), which set the tests.

Library members can access all the content, free, from home using their own device or they can visit the library and use the free public computers.

Cllr Greg White, Executive Member for Libraries, said: “The library service provides an extensive suite of resources, from e-books to encyclopaedias, magazines to business start-up guides. Over the past year, it has responded to the challenges posed by the pandemic to further develop and deliver an excellent online service to the people of North Yorkshire.

“Theory Test Pro is a valuable addition, enabling people to get the most from the driving test study by testing and honing their knowledge at home or at their local library.”
