A BUS service linking Keighley to the Dales restarts at the weekend.

The Nidderdale DalesBus 821 begins for the summer season on Sunday (May 16).

It provides access to the Washburn Valley and Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The service will run every Sunday and Bank Holiday until October 17.

It departs from Keighley Bus Station at 9.30am and runs via Bingley, Shipley and Guiseley to Otley, before travelling though the Washburn Valley past Lindley, Swinsty and Fewston reservoirs to Blubberhouses.

From there it climbs Greenhow Hill before dropping down to Pateley Bridge.

The bus then passes Gouthwaite Reservoir and through the villages of Ramsgill and Lofthouse before reaching its final destination, Scar House Reservoir, at 11.50am.

The return service to Keighley leaves Scar House at 3.45pm, arriving back at Keighley Bus Station at 6pm.

Full timetable details are available at dalesbus.org/821.

The service is operated by Keighley Bus Company as part of the DalesBus network, managed by Dales and Bowland Community Interest Company.

A spokesman said: "At Scar House there is a cafe with fine views of the surrounding countryside and it is the starting point for lakeside or moorland walks through wild and desolate countryside.

"Pateley Bridge has cafes, pubs, boutique shops, a small park and beautiful riverside walks, as well as the outstanding Nidderdale Museum. At Lofthouse a 20 minutes’ walk leads to the spectacular How Stean Gorge with limestone gorge and waterfalls, plus Tom Taylor’s cave and cafe. There are several pubs and tea rooms dotted along the bus route to Upper Nidderdale."
