MOTORISTS are being warned this morning to be careful when driving along the A65 between Settle and Giggleswick after sudden heavy rain caused flash flooding yesterday (Sunday).

PCSO Craig Lyons tweeted this morning: "Some of our roads have been seriously effected by flooding, including the A65 at Giggleswick. Please take care whilst driving around Craven this morning #floods #roadsafety."

Heavy rain fell for about three hours yesterday afternoon leading the A65 to be closed for a while. Businesses and homes were also affected by flooding.

Settle firefighters attended a flooded cellar in Procter Row, Kirkgate, Settle. The flooding was 1metre deep and was pumped into a drain at the bottom of the garden; the crew also attended a flooded workshop in Station Road.

Skipton firefighters also went to property in Austwick Close, Settle and helped the occupants with putting sandbags out.
