THIS photo, pre Brougham Street School, looking across towards Brougham Street, Skipton, was taken around 1902.
According to comments on the Rowley website, the row of six houses in the middle of the picture are 23-33 Brougham Street and the house with the gable end showing to the right is Number 2, Neville Street.
Another points out the area in the left foreground was hen pens, pig pens and allotments.
The steep path leading from East Castle Street to the highest allotments was nicknamed the Khyber Pass, by locals.
Picture reproduced by kind permission of the Rowley and Ellwood families and North Yorkshire County Council.
