THIS picture is dated around 1940 and has been loaned to us by one of the now grown-up children - Rosemary Holmes (nee Howson) who is sitting on the slide.
The picture is thought to be the opening of Cononley Playing Fields.
The children are named from the front right: Glenda Newbert, Sheila Lund, Joyce Laycock, Rosemary Howson, Albert Lewis (evacuee), Barbara Davy, Dorothy Boothman, Ellis Johnson, Norman Lund, Eileen Johnson, Audrey Green, Barbara Howson (Rosemary’s sister), two boys hidden, Victor ? (evacuee), Peter Lewis (evacuee) and Bob Thompson.
A group of parents are seen standing at the back.
Mrs Holmes now lives in Barnoldswick and says she remembers the day well.
