THIS is another magnificent building in Skipton which is no longer here, having been demolished some time in the mid to late 1980s; possibly earlier.

Dyneley House, in Newmarket Street, was run as a private hotel and had a tennis court and a stream running at the bottom of the garden.

It is believed to have been the one time residence of mill owner JB Dewhurst in the 1800s who later moved to Aireville.

A woman called Sarah Metcalfe bought the hotel and ran it for many years.

It is understood she was reluctant to licence the premises because it would have required working even longer hours, catering for revellers, than she already did.
