KEITH James brings his ‘great Canadian songbook’ with an outside performance at Settle Victoria Hall on Thursday, July 15.

Performing in the hall’s Covid safe outside garden, he will perform the music of Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, The Wainwrights, Leonard Cohen, KD Lang, Gordon Lightfoot and many more. Songs will include After the Gold Rush, Harvest, The Circle Game, Big Yellow Taxi, Cigarettes and Chocolate Milk, Suzanne, Famous Blue Raincoat, Constant Craving, and If You could read my Mind.

He says: “I have been listening to and have been noticeably influenced by all of these singer-songwriters throughout my career as a musician and have always been amazed by the unique sense of honesty and deep collective integrity that music from Canada possesses; a natural embodiment of human awareness that has caressed us all over many decades.”

Coming up, subject to Covid, is Sinnerboy: Tribute to Rory Gallagher, on July 24; A screening of The Railway Children on July 28; and folk act, The Hut People on July 30.

Settle Victoria Hall- the world’s oldest surviving music hall - has had to adapt during the coronavirus pandemic. Many acts have been postponed until next year, but the hall has continued to entertain with a new emporium and refreshment gardens. To find out more visit: www.settlevictoriahall.org.uk/
