PLANS to demolish a garage and lean to car port next to 47 Marton Road, Gargrave, and replace it with a timber clad holiday chalet have been approved by Craven District Council.

The council said while outside the main built up area of Gargrave, the site was surrounded by two holiday chalet developments with 15 chalets to the north and17 to the east.

The officer’s report reads: “The proposal is well designed and would have a minimal visual impact, upon neighbouring amenity nor upon highway safety. The proposal is in accordance with all relevant Local Plan policies.”

Plans to station 17 holiday chalets and the construction of an access track within the site, off Marton Road, were approved by the council in August 2007.
