I READ and totally agree with Richard Colley last week (Sorry for shops facing unfair competition, Caven Herald letters, July 15).
On a recent visit to Harrogate we visited the Pro Cook shop to buy some simple kitchen utensils , l noticed a lot were made in China, I mentioned this to an assistant who informed me everything they sold was from China.
Christmas, last, my wife bought various shirts and sweaters from Orvis in Harrogate (an American company) on returning home she realised all the lot had been made in China , so she duly returned all of them informing the staff her reason.
A few years ago we were visiting Sydney Australia ,we walked over the wonderful landmark on which was a large plaque saying. (Designed in England built in Middlesborough) where has all that gone.
I recently learned that the famous Hunter Wellingtons are now (mostly) made in China; it really does make you despair, does no one else share our concerns.
And, today, I read the Chinese are responsible for a massive Cyber attack on most of the large western countries.
