ATMOSPHERIC paintings of Malham Cove can be seen until the end of July at Craven Arts Hub in Skipton.

They are the work of artist Brian Burton whose series of dramatic landscapes make up his ‘Dales Celebration’ exhibition, much of which is taken up with paintings of the cove.

“There is a sense of melancholy and dread which is duly relieved once accepting the comfort of its ‘arms’ wrapped safely around you,” says Brian of Malham Cove.

In August, it will be the turn of award winning, Dales based artist Adele Froude, with her new exhibition ‘Betwixt Here and Somewhere’, featuring intricate, textural textile sculptures, wall art and landscape paintings.

Alongside events at Craven Arts Hub, the charity, Craven Arts, is also planning an ‘open studios’ event and an art trail, both to take place in August.

As part of the art trail, usually taking place over the bank holiday weekend, artists would be able to exhibit their work, as well as helping to organise and promote the trail, with tasks such as co-ordinating the venues and artists.

Artists who would like to take part in the Art Trail in any capacity or join the open studios can apply by email to: info@cravenarts.co.uk. Artists who would like to take part will need to become members of Craven Arts.

Craven Arts Hub is in Caroline Square and is open on market days, Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
