A NEW art and craft course for young people is being launched.
The venture, for ten-to-17-year-olds, begins at Glusburn Community & Arts Centre in September.
The six-week mixed media course – led by Ruth Wightman, of Art-Star (Yorkshire) Limited – will include sketchbook keeping, drawing and painting from photographs, still life and printing. There will be various arts and crafts activities, and the chance to try out different materials and learn new techniques.
Two taster sessions are being held, on August 24 and 25. The first will focus on making creative prints and the second craft activities, plus painting and drawing. Youngsters will make bookmarks, greetings cards and origami boxes. Places are £5 per session – book at gicac.org.uk/courses.
“These are the first of several new activities being developed for young people at the venue and will be held in our recently-refurbished ‘studio’ – formerly the learning centre,” said a spokesperson. “Funding has come from a number of sources and our grateful thanks go to them all.” For more, visit gicac.org.uk/whats-on or call 01535 630223.
