LAST week’s mystery building was Cracoe Village Hall, which has just reopened for general hire, after a busy few months being used by Cracoe and Rylstone Primary School throughout the coronavirus pandemic.

The village hall committee recently announced its plans to offer the hall, a very useful venue for all manner of events, to villagers at much reduced rates and with a ‘simplified pricing structure’.

The hall was closed to the general public since the first coronavirus lockdown in March last year, but with government restrictions lifting from July 19, normal regular activities are now able to resume.

It did however not remain empty during the last year and half, the school used it for breakfast and after school clubs, lunches, additional classroom space where necessary and PE.

The well-loved community asset, is considered to be one of the very best in the Dales.

It provides a home for a range of recreational facilities for people living, not only in Cracoe, but also the surrounding villages of Rylstone, Hetton, Bordley, Flasby and Winterburn.

As well being home to various clubs and societies over the years, the village hall committee organises social events for the community including a quiz and pudding evening, coffee mornings, craft fairs and a pantomime.

It can also be used for wedding receptions, christenings, birthday parties as well as other celebrations, says the committee.
