A WALKER who had been trampled by cows in a field between Clapham and Austwick was air-lifted to hospital yesterday.
The incident at Thwaite Lane was reported to the Cave Rescue Organisation for assistance at 11.20am by the Yorkshire Ambulance Service.
A spokesman for the CRO said: "A female walker, 45, was reported to have been ‘trampled by cows’ in a field, just off Thwaite Lane, between Clapham and Austwick. When the first team members arrived, they found two road ambulances and an air ambulance already on scene with the paramedics assessing the patient’s injuries and giving her pain relief.
"While the rest of the team stood down, those on scene waited, then assisted with loading the patient into the helicopter."
