Autumn sees the return of pumpkin spiced lattes and lazy afternoons in cosy gastropubs for some.

But it's also a chance to get more active and strap on some hiking boots and hit the trails.

And with outdoor experts Millets naming North Yorkshire as the best place to plan an Autumn adventure in the UK, it's about time we get exploring.

The county has a record 2,909 outdoor activities everything from the stunning North York Moors National Park to the most campsites than anywhere else in the UK.

North Yorkshire is closely followed by the Scottish Highlands.

Highland Council does not oversee the entire Scottish Highland national park but the largest number of P600 mountains in the country (56) and 309 lakes, it is a more than worthy second place.

The Highlands do have four outdoor ski slopes including the Nevis range, making it perfect for outdoor adventuring into the Winter months.
