PEOPLE will be able to board the Staycation Express later this month to watch the sun set over some of the most well known parts of the Dales.

For one week, the Staycation Express - an updated, all first class, Intercity 125 - will be taking to the rails each evening to coincide with the setting sun.

The ‘Sundowner’ train will feature an evening drinks menu where passengers can enjoy their favourite drink while watching the sun set between Settle and Ribblehead Viaduct.

Fares start from £19.50 with the train running from October 23 to October 30. It will leave Skipton at 5.18pm and from Settle at 5.37pm. The train then climbs up into the Dales on the Settle-Carlisle line providing passengers with stunning views of the setting sun - as long as the skies are clear - before arriving into Appleby at 6.28pm.

Passengers can then catch a connecting Northern train back to Settle arriving at 8.01pm or Skipton at 8.27pm.

The Sundowner/Staycation Express is a specially adapted all ‘first class’ classic Inter-City train with plush leather seating set around socially distanced tables of two or four with large pictorial windows and dimmed warm white lighting to reduce glare.
