A CHARITY steak night organised by Coniston Cold’s Michael Winchester proved a sizzling success when netting £1,500 for Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice, Oxenhope.

Former livestock buyer Michael, a familiar face at Skipton Auction Mart and now serving on the CCM board of directors, organised the event at Napiers Restaurant in Skipton’s Chapel Hill, when steaks from locally reared beef cattle were kindly donated by Ralph Pearson Wholesale Butchers in Bradford, weekly prime cattle purchasers at Skipton Auction Mart.

Napiers’ owners, Ian and Julia Ackroyd, themselves chipped in by offering a meal for two, which was auctioned off later in the evening, raising £280, while surplus steaks also went under the hammer, wielded by Skipton Auction Mart’s livestock sales manager and auctioneer, Ted Ogden, contributing £450 to the kitty.

Andrew Wood, Community Fundraising Manager at Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice, said: “It’s a real boost to the care we are providing in the local area that fundraising stalwarts like Michael are able to start organising their events for us once again. A big thank you to Michael, Pearsons and the lovely team at Napiers in Skipton for their vital part in making this event such a success.”
