PARISH Church CoE Primary School in Skipton has started the new academic year as part of a multi- academy trust.
The Brougham Street school joins eight other primary and secondary schools, including, St Aidan’s High School, Harrogate, as a member of the Yorkshire Causeway Schools Trust.
Parish school headteacher, Lucy Peberdy, said the school was delighted to join the trust, which includes both church and community schools.
She said: “Our school is founded on the same Christian values as the trust and we look forward to working with Yorkshire Causeway and the other schools to support continuous improvement and to provide a wide range of exciting learning opportunities for the pupils in our care”.
The staff at Parish school will be supported by a newly formed governing body, which will include representatives of the Skipton community as well as staff and parent governors.
Ms Peberdy thanked staff, governors and parents for their support over the last year and looked ahead to what she described as an exciting time.
She said: “We are grateful to the whole school community for their support during this period of change. This is an exciting time for our school and we are all looking forward to seeing Parish Primary continue to go from strength to strength.”
The trust, which was formed in 2015, says in common with its other schools, the Skipton primary will be a ‘valued and significant part of the organisation’.
It says it supports headteachers to drive educational standards and outcomes, while at the same time making sure that the very best interests of pupils are at the heart of everything it does.
Chris Burt, executive leader of the trust said: “After a period working alongside Parish Primary, we are delighted to formally welcome the school.
“The hard work and dedication of staff and children is clear to see. I have no doubt that the school’s unwavering commitment to providing the very best for every pupil will continue to have a positive impact on outcomes for all the children, both now and in the future.
“We are looking forward to continuing to get to know the whole school community over the coming months.”
Richard Noake, diocesan director of education for Leeds, added: “The diocese is delighted that Parish C of E Primary School has joined Yorkshire Causeway Schools Trust. We look forward to continuing to work in partnership with the school, ensuring that the pupils continue to achieve and flourish in the spirit of the diocesan values of ‘loving, living, learning’”.
The school is holding an open day on Wednesday (October 13) for prospective parents to have a look around. Phone the school to arrange a visit, or look on its Facebook page.
