The Wensleydale Railway Association Trust (WRAT) has been given a grant by The National Lottery Heritage Fund which has seen the restoration and refurbishment of the Grade II Listed Victorian period station house at Leeming Bar in North Yorkshire.
The station house is now open to the public with visitors welcome to step back in time and enjoy a living museum experience enhanced by costumed interpreters. Integral to this project is the delivery of a heritage education and community engagement programme which is designed to re-engage local people with the railway and its story. As part of this programme, a diverse series of fascinating live digital talks are provided for free over Zoom each month.
Topics have ranged from the restoration of the station house, the history of Geevor Tin Mine in Cornwall and the development of the Sierra Leone National Railway Museum.
