SKIPTON charities and organisations can apply for funding from the Hillards Charity because there used to be a store in town behind Sheep Street.

The Trust makes grants for social welfare causes particularly for the benefit of young and old in areas where there was formerly a Hillards supermarket.

Recently the Trust handed over a new inshore lifeboat - John Wesley Hillard IV - to Scarborough RNLI.

The ceremony was performed by Oscar Hartley, a Trustee of the Gay and Peter Hartley’s Hillards Charitable Trust.

This is the fourth lifeboat donated by the Trust in the last 30 years.

The Trustees would welcome applications for funding from qualifying charities and groups in the Skipton area. For details go to the website https://www.hillardstrust.org/
