A GROUP of emergency department doctors and nurses from Airedale General Hospital who formed a group called Hearts In Little Hands held a RestartHeart Day at the bandstand in Ilkley to reach basic life support to the public.

Team colleague Amina Abu El Hawa said: “The group usually goes around primary schools and nurseries to teach young children. So far this has been very popular and successful in the local area. As a group we even came highly commended at the NHS Parliamentary Awards earlier this year after being nominated by the Ilkley MP Robbie Moore.

“We’ve managed to teach whole primary schools in Skipton and surrounding areas which involve as many as around 230 children.”

For Restart a Heat day on Saturday the group went along with their resuscitation ‘models’ and set up in the centre of Ilkley at the band stand where there was interest from people as old as 90 wanting to learn.
