RAIL passengers on the Airedale line are being warned of changes to services later this month due to the ongoing work at Leeds Station.

On Saturday, October 30, a reduced service will run to and from Leeds, with some bus replacements in operation.

And on Sunday, October 31, no trains will run to or from Leeds before 11.40am – with a reduced service, including connecting buses, operating for the rest of the day.

Network Rail says the changes are to enable its teams to work on preparing a new track crossover and an under-track crossing for signalling cables, and instal overhead wires.

The project is part of a major upgrade of track layouts between platforms four and six at the station, which is due for completion by early next year.

Matt Rice, for Network Rail, said: “Our teams are making solid progress on platforms four to six and whilst it might not be the most visually-spectacular upgrade, the work will make a meaningful difference for everyone who uses Leeds Station by having fewer late-running trains.

“We’re doing as much as we can without needing to use bus replacements, but that’s unavoidable for one or two days this month.

“We are advising passengers to plan ahead and check their journey via National Rail Enquiries or with their train operator – and allow plenty of time to travel.”
