PEOPLE are being invited to ‘dress as you dare’ for a fund raising 80s night due to take place at Grassington Town Hall next month.

Organised by friends Will Binns and Lindsay Hobbs, it will also feature drag performances including the debut of Will’s very own ‘Rhaya Sunshine’.

Will and Lindsay will also use the event to celebrate their birthdays - Will’s up coming 30th, and Lindsay’s belated 60th.

Will, who works at The Corner House Cafe in Grassington, raised more than £3,000 for Manorlands Hospice last year with his ‘lockdown lip syncs’ on social media.

This time, he will be raising money for the Terrence Higgins Trust.

“I wanted to raise money for a worthwhile charity and like so many I was moved by the channel 4 series ‘Its a sin’ which told the story of a man living in London during the Aids epidemic, so I have chosen the Terrence Higgins Trust to benefit from my charity night.

“The event will also be celebrating my 30th birthday coming up, and Lindsay’s 60th birthday earlier in the year. Lindsay was training to be a nurse in the 80’s down in London so she saw first hand what effect the Aids epidemic had on everyone at the time.

“A few of her friends were actually training on Aids wards at the time so this is a charity very close to her heart.

“The showing of “It’s a Sin” earlier this year has brought these charities back to the forefront for everyone.”

Will will be planning to unveil his drag persona Rhaya Sunshine at the event, and will also have a couple of friends coming along in drag.

There will be plenty of ‘lip syncing’ and music, and fancy dress is encouraged for everyone, added Will.

The ‘It’s a Sin 80s night will take place on November 6 at Grassington Town Hall, from 8pm until late. Tickets £5 from the Corner House Cafe, or on the door.
