THE hunt for missing walker, 74 year old David McCartney is continuing today (Wednesday) with help from neighbouring mountain rescue teams.

In addition to the Grassington based Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association, the Clapham based Cave Rescue Organisation and Craven police, the large scale multi-agency effort is also including teams from Calder Valley and Swaledale.

Today, the team has been out on the fells above Kettlewell, in slightly better weather conditions than yesterday.

An UWFRA spokesperson said: "We were also joined by teams from North Yorkshire Police - Craven, the Cave Rescue Organisation (CRO) Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team, search dogs from Mountain Rescue Search Dogs England, RAF Mountain Rescue, and Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team.

"A huge thank you to everyone who was on the hill."

Mr McCartney was last seen on Monday at his home in Keighley. He told his family he was off walking in the Craven area and would be between four and five hours.

Anyone who sees someone matching his description is asked to call 999, anyone with any information that could assist the police should call 101.
