AN election is to be held for a new Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for the North Yorkshire Police Area including Craven.

The election comes after Philip Allott, who had only been in the post since May, resigned as commissioner following comments he made after the rape and murder of Sarah Everard by a serving policed officer.

If the election is contested polling will take place on Thursday November 25.

Nomination papers can be obtained from the office of the Police Area Returning Officer, Selby District Council, or from the website: selby.gov.uk.

Completed nomination papers must be returned to returning officer no later than 4pm on Friday October 29.

Applications to register to vote must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 12 midnight on Tuesday November 9..
