MUSIC lovers are in for a treat next year as Gateways Festival reveals the special guests set to perform at The Great Yorkshire Dales Proms, live inb Aireville Park, Skipton.

Lesley Garrett, one of Britain’s best known sopranos, will be performing a wonderful selection of songs carefully selected to make it an unforgettable show held on Friday, July 22.

Following a highly successful career as a classically trained soprano, Yorkshire’s very own diva has won both critical acclaim and the affection of many fans and music lovers through the breadth and diversity of her work.

Lesley is joined by West End star Sophie Evans, best known for appearing in the BBC’s Over the Rainbow in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s search for a Dorothy. Sophie has performed in many shows but most recently as Glinda in Wicked on the West end.

Hosting the evening will be the very talented Welsh tenor and Go-Compare man himself, Mr. Wynne Evans.

Known to millions for the TV advertising campaign that has made him a household name as spoof opera star Gio Compario, Wynne is actually a well-respected, professionally trained opera singer and a fabulous host with a wicked sense of humour.

Other guests include a quartet of young emerging British talent from the Royal Northern College of Music.

Accompanying the stellar line up with an imaginative and eclectic mix of classical favourites, film scores and musical medleys will be the fabulous, 60 piece, Yorkshire Symphony Orchestra conducted by local lad Ben Crick.

The evening will end with a fireworks finale and all the proms anthems, including Rule Britannia, Pomp and Circumstance No 1 and Jerusalem.

Director of Gateways Festival – Eddie Elliott-Smith said: “We are delighted to be welcoming Lesley Garrett to headline what will be an extraordinary concert. We’re also thrilled to have

special guests Wynne Evans host the show and singer and actress Sophie Evans providing stunning performances for what is going to be a musical treat for all the family.”

The festival will be covering the whole of the weekend to July 24 and will include live bands on the Saturday and Sunday. Details have yet to be finalised and announced.
