DONATIONS for young people and the environment will be doubled on #GivingTuesday this month – empowering more young people to make a difference by planting trees.
Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust’s ‘Together for Trees’ campaign will launch on November 30 and for one week donations made through The Big Give website will be doubled, thanks to match funding from builders’ merchant JT Atkinson.
Money raised will help create small woodlands, hedgerows and wildlife corridors to connect the patchwork of habitats in the Yorkshire Dales - where native woodland cover is only around 2.7 per cent.
Young people will be involved in helping to create the new woodlands, enabling them to do something positive for the environment, develop new skills and improve their well-being.
Jamie Atkinson, managing director at JT Atkinson & Sons, said: “We are delighted to support a local environmental charity. Through our continued support of YDMT we have seen first-hand how tree planting is a fantastic way for people to build a lasting connection with nature, and we know it improves the environment.”
