ENVIRONMENTAL campaigning charity, Friends of the Dales' next free-to-all digital talk will have a Christmas theme.
Hosted on December 8 at 4.30pm, Skipton's Anne Buckley, an author and lecturer in German and Translation Studies at the University of Leeds, will offer a glimpse into the lives of the German prisoners of war, mostly officers, who were held in Raikeswood Camp, in Skipton, during the First World War.
The talk will also reveal how the prisoners managed to celebrate Christmas within the camp.
Anne will draw on details from a unique diary the prisoners secretly wrote during their time in Skipton which was subsequently smuggled back to Germany and published under the title Kriegsgefangen in Skipton.
To book a place on the talk email: victoria.benn@friendsofthedales.org.uk.
