A SKIPTON man lost his licence after admitting drug-driving.

Joshua Newall, 25, of Aireview Terrace, Skipton, pleaded guilty before Skipton magistrates to having 2.5ug of the drug in one litre of blood. The specified limit is 2ug.

Prosecutor Nadine Clough said police officers on duty on May 5 this year at 11.45pm saw a vehicle with a defective light in Keighley Road, Low Bradley. It was stopped and officers smelled cannabis.

The driver, Newall tested positive for the drug at the road side and was arrested.

Representing Newall, Siobhan White said her client had smoked a cannabis cigarette a few hours earlier. He fully co-operated with police.

Newall was disqualified from driving for 12 months, fined £323 with costs of £85 and a surcharge of £34.
