HIGH winds are due to batter the district tonight and into tomorrow as Storm Arwen gathers pace followed by the first snow of the season.
The Met Office has issued amber and yellow warnings of wind starting at 3pm today (Friday) across North Yorkshire and lasting until around 6pm tomorrow.
The Skipton district is expected to see the winds arrive around 6pm tonight with sleet and snow following later in the evening. Some of the snow may be heavy for a time in the early hours of Saturday, then turning light.
Temperatures are due to plummet to a high of just 3 degrees tomorrow with lows of -1 overnight night and -2 overnight on Saturday.
Motorists are being told to allow for potentially tricky road conditions.
Temperatures are due to rise again slightly on Tuesday with rain forecast.
