ADDINGHAM Practical Workshop group has been busy make handy items for home and garden using wherever possible recycled or second hand items wherever possible.

To date the group has been successful in producing bird feeders and bee hotels. This has been accomplished by donations of wood and materials and put together by the small team which confesses to being totally novice in the use of wood working tools.

With a little instruction the volunteers were hard at it and the sound of hammers has been in fierce competition with the friendly chatter.

Items completed to date were on sale in the Addingham Christmas market where proceeds have gone towards the local Scout group as a thanks to allowing the workshop group use its premises.

The group is a relatively new gathering in the village.

Member Ken Edgar said: “Addingham is a village with one of the friendliest and community spirited populations to be found anywhere in the country.

The recent Covid crisis did nothing to dampen the spirits of these resilient people. Safe Social contact remained strong despite restrictions and as soon as it became possible once more to come together, they did so with vigour.

Many groups exist to cater for just about all ages and needs.”
