VISITORS to a Dales pub munched their way through around 2,250 portions of onion rings last year leading to a generous donation to Kirkby-in-Malhamdale Primary School.

The Lister Arms in Malham gave £561.50 to the school, the result of a 25p donation for every portion of the popular side order sold during 2020.

Headteacher Richard Wright said: “We are hugely grateful to the Lister Arms and Daniel Thwaites brewery for their kind contribution to our school. Thankyou from our whole school to everyone who loves the Lister’s delicious onion rings!”

Lister Arms manager Chris Denning said: “Supporting the school is just one of the ways we do our bit for our community. We are delighted to team up with the school and look forward to continuing our partnership over the coming years.”

The initiative has been benefitting the school for a number of years.

Mr Wright added: “Thanks to this support we have been able to update and install outdoor equipment, expand on our resources and help our pupils’ learning. It is very much appreciated.”
