I WISH to add to the debate regarding the role of volunteers within Skipton and Craven.
Those volunteers who have maintained the historic Raikes Burial ground are one of the many groups who give of their time and energy to either preserve sites of historical interest
Such as the Raikeswood World War One prisoner camp or who organise groups, such as the Scouts or who volunteer at the vaccination clinics.
There is a wide range of essential activities which would not exist without volunteers and their commitment and enthusiasm is appreciated by all who benefit from their skills and commitment.
I can vouch for the success of the park run which exists entirely as a result of a whole team of volunteers.
The many sports clubs are organised by volunteers and the splendid Skipton Town Hall now has it’s own team of volunteers.
So , thanks to all who give their time for benefit of others - town councillors included.
Cllr Chris Rose
Labour member of Craven District Council
