BRADFORD builder and expert ranked motorcyclist, Charlie Smith won the Bradford Motor Club's motor cycle trial at Deer Park, Bingley on New Year's Day but only after a tie-break decider with novice class winner Daniel Smith.

Both completed the ten section four lap event with forty penalties but Charlie Smith rode through the sections with the most unpenalised attempts.

In the Clubman A and B classes Gavin Houson and Howard Dixon were clear winners. The best Youth competitor was Clifton schoolboy Jimmy Crabtree who rode his new Vertigo machine to eleventh place in the Clubman B class.
