FOLLOWING the much-acclaimed success of its amateur world premiere performance last autumn of Calendar Girls: The Musical, Grassington Players has donated £4,424 to the charity, Blood Cancer UK.

The funds represented profits from ticket sales to the show, which ran for seven nights at The Devonshire Institute, Grassington, along with bucket collections from the audiences. Money was also raised from the selling of merchandise including specially branded Liquid Yorkshire local gin, a silent auction of a sunflower painting by local artist Ruth Shepherd and a generous donation from a member of the production team.

Angela Baker, who is both vice president of the charity and ‘Miss February’ of the real Calendar Girls, was presented with a cheque by Mary Wilkinson, president of the Grassington Players.

Angela said:“This is an amazing achievement and a wonderful postscript to what was a superb production from the players as they brought our story home to the Dale”.
