WEST Craven councillors are to ask the ambulance service to provide regular details of response times after hearing of residents having to wait for up to 10 hours.
The West Craven Committee of Pendle Council, meeting at The Rainhall Centre, Barnoldswick, agreed while the country was currently going through unprecedented and difficult times with the coronavirus pandemic, waiting such a long time for an ambulance could be distressing for people facing an emergency.
Councillor David Whipp said he was aware of people being taken to hospital in private cars because of the length of time it was taking for ambulances to respond to an emergency call.
It was noted that the North West Ambulance Service used to provide the committee with details of its response times every quarter.
Members agreed to ask the service to reintroduce the updates in a bid to improve the ambulance service for people in West Craven.
