PLANS to build three 'off grid' holiday lodges at Deanfield Farm, in Close Lane, Cowling, have been given the go-ahead by Craven Council.

The three timber lodges will be built on two parcels of land and reached by an existing access off Old Lane.

Each lodge will have two bedrooms and a single parking space, with electric car charging point.

Solar panels will be fitted to the roofs of the lodges, which will also have small roof-mounted wind turbine.

Electricity generated will be stored in home energy storage batteries in a small plant room at each lodge.

The intention is that the lodges will be entirely off-grid, although a stove in each will supply additional heating in the winter months.

Access to the lodges will be widened and resurfaced.
