A MAN has been ordered to pay £300 in compensation after his dog attacked a child while he was celebrating while playing football.

Wahid Iqbal, 52, of St Helena Road, Wibsey, admitted the offence of being the owner in charge of a dog that was dangerously out of control and caused injury during a hearing at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates' Court on December 20.

The incident, on August 28, occurred on a field off Hope Avenue, Little Horton, when his brown American Akita called Maisie attacked a boy by biting him on the arm, causing a puncture wound, "because she got excited with the children celebrating football success".

Iqbal was told that Maisie must only be taken into public places if she is wearing a muzzle and kept on a lead, otherwise she will be destroyed.

He was also ordered to pay £300 to the victim for the distress caused.
