SKIPTON shop, The Snug, is reopening some time in February after it was closed last week following an 'issue', according to leaseholder Tony Lawrence.

The Sheep Street shop was opened in August last year by Black Lace front man Dene Michael.

Mr Michael's agent is a friend of Mr Lawrence and organised the opening event.

Reviews from customers have been positive and it has remained busy. However, it closed suddenly last week.

Mr Lawrence said there was a 'business issue' he didn't want to make public just yet, but he had changed the locks last Tuesday and contacted North Yorkshire Police. He said he is looking to re-stock and get reopened as soon as possible with the help of his manager, Kat Aveyard.

"Kat's been great. She's a great manager and is going to carry on managing the shop," Tony said adding: "There has been a lot of misinformation on social media which has been malicious but we will rise above it."

He said some customers who had ordered items had already been refunded while others had since had items delivered to their homes. He said he aimed to get everything up and running again soon and will be putting posters up at the shop.
