A PONTEFRACT-based interiors specialist has set itself the target of planting 2025 trees by the year 2025, and has partnered with Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust (YDMT) to achieve its goal.

Family-owned Interact Limited has pledged to donate a proportion of its sales to plant more trees in the Dales.

Interact director Martyn Corker said: “It’s very important to us that our business leaves a positive legacy on the environment and our community. We’re incredibly proud to partner with Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust and to be taking those steps to ensure we are playing our part in actively protecting the environment.”

Planting trees to reduce the effects of climate change has never been more important and YDMT has been supporting the planting of 28,000 new trees and around 2.5 km of hedgerow this winter.

YDMT development officer Sarah Hodgson added: “It is great to partner with an organisation that is environmentally aware and wants to make a real difference to woodland cover in the Dales. Some members of the Interact team have already been out with us at Ormsgill, near Airton, to maintain the woodland we planted in 2016.

“Interact’s donation will help ensure we continue to plant woodland in the Dales that not only counteracts the effects of climate change but also provides habitat for wildlife and breathing spaces for all.”
