SILSDEN Amnesty Group is continuing its campaign to free a British Iranian woman imprisoned in Iran.

Members are pressing for the release of Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe, who has been locked-up since 2016.

People will be able to show their support – by signing an appeal to the Foreign Secretary, Liz Truss, for action – at a coffee morning being held by the group on Saturday, February 12.

"Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe was convicted – without evidence – of spying," said a spokesperson.

"She has been separated for almost six years now from her daughter, with no action reported from the Government since a meeting in November when Liz Truss met her Iranian counterpart.

"Nazanin's husband endured a 21-day hunger strike before Christmas, seemingly to no avail."

Silsden Amnesty members have held three vigils, the latest outside the office of Keighley MP Robbie Moore – whom they've been lobbying.

The group says the main obstacle to Nazanin's release is a 40-year-old debt of around £400 million owed to the Iranian Government.

The coffee morning will take place at Silsden Methodist Church, between 9.30am and noon.

There will be bacon sandwiches, drinks and homemade cakes.

Other attractions will include a bring-and-buy book sale and raffle.
