THE latest snappy phrase from our Government is "Way to Work".

Unemployed people will no longer have three months to seek work in their preferred sector, but will face benefit sanctions if they turn down a job they are offered after just four weeks.

Of course, the jobs on offer will not be highly skilled, or highly paid ones. Our leaders are trying to fill all the vacancies in low-paid sectors such as social care. This is really offensive to those who do work in that sector - "low-paid" does not mean "low skilled".

If your grandma lives in a care home, would you really want someone looking after her who had been forced into the job under threat of losing benefits?

Many people who have lost their jobs during the pandemic have worked for decades - and paid National Insurance for decades, believing that if they lost their job their would be a sensible level of help available.

Sorry, folks. The unemployed are an easy target. The Government wants to get those figures down and save money, not to help the unemployed.
