THE car park at Yorkshire Water's Thruscross Reservoir, between Skipton and Harrogate, is currently closed so improvements can be made to its lay-out.
The circular walk around the reservoir remains closed to walkers after a number of trees were brought down during Storm Arwen at the end of November. Yorkshire Water said damaged trees posed a 'significant risk' to walkers, and closed the path until the trees could be removed. Since then, more trees have fallen victim to Storm Malik and Storm Corrie.
A spokesperson for Yorkshire Water said: "We’re making improvements to increase capacity of the existing car park and making changes to ensure people park efficiently to maximise access to the site for visitors and reduce the impact on the local community during busy periods.
"Unfortunately, the recent storms (Malik and Corrie) have caused further damage in the area and we’re currently assessing the impact of those storms on the trees at Thruscross."
