A COW which suffered 'unsurvivable injuries' at Ing Scar, Watlowes Dry Fell, near Malham Cove, had to be put down at the scene by a farmer.
The incident occurred yesterday, March 4, and was reported to the Cave Rescue Organisation by North Yorkshire Police at 12.23pm.
A CRO spokesman said: "A walker contacted North Yorkshire Police to report a cow that had fallen from height and received multiple injuries, including apparently broken legs.
"At NYP’s request, CRO sent a duty controller to assess the incident. It was found that the cow had suffered unsurvivable injuries. Having ascertained ownership of the beast, it was humanely euthanised at the scene by a local farmer and the incident was left in their hands."
