FANS of stand-up comedians are in for a treat this weekend with Skipton Comedy Live.

The monthly event at Skipton Town Hall will tomorrow (Friday) feature Rob Rouse, Hayley Ellis, Noel James and Big Lou.

Big Lou will be standing in for Colin Manford as host this month. He is a well known face on the comedy scene and has played most of the premier comedy venues in the North West and beyond.

On Saturday, the town hall plays host to 'History Wardrobe presents: The Gentlewoman's Wardrobe, Fashion in the age of Anne Lister'.

Dress historian Lucy Adlington will talk about the clothes and customs of the 1790s to the 1830s, celebrating the 231st birthday of remarkable Yorkshire diarist Anne 'Gentleman Jack' Lister.

There will also be a two-day workshop in silk painting, running on Saturday and Sunday with participants learning the full process of creating their own silk painting from stretching the canvas to adding the beautiful bold colours, while looking at the theme of ‘Spring’ to help guide their designs.

The workshop is suitable for anyone over 12 years old, whether they have any experience or not, and all materials will be provided.
