LAWKLAND Young Farmers Club enjoyed multiple individual and overall successes at the region’s District Rally hosted by Settle YFC, on Sunday, clinching most points in the junior section to win the coveted Sedgwick Cup for the first time since 2010, finishing runners-up in the stock judging competition, third in intermediate/senior section and third overall.

The four clubs in the Settle District – Burton in Lonsdale, Coniston Cold, Lawkland and Rathmell – went head to head in the annual get-together for the cream of the region’s young farmers.

Overall results were: Sedgwick Cup (most points Junior comps) - 1st Lawkland, 2nd Rathmell, 3rd Burton in Lonsdale, 4th Coniston Cold. Polkinghorne Cup (most points Intermediate & Senior comps) - 1st Rathmell, 2nd Burton in Lonsdale, 3rd Lawkland. BOCM Shield (most points in Stockjudging) - 1st Rathmell, 2nd Lawkland, 3rd Burton in Lonsdale, 4th Coniston Cold. NFU Cup (most points overall) - 1st Rathmell, 2nd Burton in Lonsdale, 3rd Lawkland, 4th Coniston Cold

Of the Lawkland performance, club parent Kelly Armitage said: “They absolutely smashed it. The sun shone. All our members turned up and had a go. We won lots of prizes and brought home the trophy for most points in the junior section. What a day it was for Team Lawkland - massive well done everyone, you should all be very proud of yourselves.”

Nail Bashing - 1st Fred Atkinson. Obstacle Course - 1st and 2nd Lawkland teams, Hen Eggs dark - 3rd Erin Booth; Hen Eggs light -1st Fred Atkinson, 4th Fraizer Robinson.

The next round is the Yorkshire County Rally to be held at Thirsk at the end of May.
