A SKIPTON driver has been banned from the road and handed a hefty fine after failing to give the identification of a driver who was alleged to have committed a road traffic offence.
James Houghton, 31, of The Oval, failed to appear at Preston Magistrates' Court on two occasions, one to answer charges of speeding and failure to provide an ID, and another to face a possible disqualification.
The original offence of exceeding the 30mph speed limit in a Ford Index vehicle on September 11, 2021, on the A675 near Chorley was withdrawn.
Magistrates sitting at Preston on April 28 disqualified Houghton from driving for 12 months and his driving record was endorsed with six points.
He was also ordered to pay a total of £816 made up of a fine of £660, a surcharge of £66 and court costs of £90.
He has been given until May 26 to pay the balance.
