A NORTH Brewing Co beer tasting evening next month will be Skipton Cricket Club and Skipton Juniors Football Club’s first big fundraiser as they aim to raise money for the new Skipton Community Sports Hub.
The clubs have joined forces as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation to deliver the ambitious community project, which will see a 3,500 sq ft building featuring function room, bar, commercial kitchens and changing rooms replace the current Skipton CC clubhouse at Sandylands, Carleton New Road.
The majority of funding is expected to come from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), the Football Association (FA) and Yorkshire Housing, with any additional funds being raised in the community.
Malcolm Birks, chairman of Skipton Cricket Club, said: “The beer tasting evening will be the first of a whole host of social events and fundraising initiatives over the next few months that will help us ensure we have the money we need to turn the dream of the Skipton Community Sports Hub into reality.”
The beer tasting event on Friday, June 24 at Skipton CC's clubhouse, Sandylands, will see the Leeds brewer’s founding director, Christian Townsley – the dad of one of Skipton Juniors’ members - guide guests through six of its favourite craft beers. The evening starts at 7pm with a welcome drink followed by the beer tasting and then a pie and peas supper. Tickets are £12.50 and the bar will remain open after the event for guests to enjoy more of North Brewing’s beers.
